Root of Pumpkin
The name 'Pumpkin' allegedly stems from the greek work pepon (πέπων), meaning “large melon". In french it was called "pompon". The Brits changed that to "Pumpion", and finally the colonial Americans brought us the word used today: Pumpkin.
